60 SECONDS WITH LAUREN CLARKE
Lauren Clarke is a manager in Beghou Consulting’s New York City office. Lauren shares what it’s like to work at Beghou – from finding inspiration and building camaraderie with her colleagues to how she maximizes her productivity.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“I really wanted to be an astronaut. I loved science growing up and enjoyed learning about NASA and space research. I even earned my bachelor’s degree in physics.”
What are Beghou’s goals, and how do your day-to-day responsibilities contribute to these goals?
“I focus heavily on data visualization in life sciences commercial operations – taking the data and strategy from my colleagues and putting it into a dashboard that illustrates actionable insights for our clients. Our deep expertise in the life sciences industry allows us to understand what the sales force wants – and, just as important, what they don’t want – to create end products that are useful, attractive and easy to interpret.”
What are your hobbies?
“I am very interested in the science fiction and fantasy genres – whether for TV shows, movies or books. Many of my favorites are recommendations from colleagues, including my favorite TV Show, ‘Dark.’ It’s a science-fiction, time-traveling show on Netflix.
I also love exploring new restaurants and museums in NYC and elsewhere when on vacation with my fiancé. We recently visited Banff, Canada, where we enjoyed some amazing meals and great hikes!”
Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?
“Associate Partner Justin Khalifa, who leads our New York office, has been very influential. When I first started at Beghou, he helped show me the ropes and ensure I was up to speed. He is also very logical and calm under pressure. I admire both of those qualities and do my best to emulate them.”
What is your go-to productivity trick?
“When I have a lot of emails or work that needs to get done, I like to grab my favorite snacks from our office kitchen, put on headphones and blast Top 40 music as I push through the assignments. This eliminates distractions and helps me stay focused.”
How would you describe the culture at Beghou?
“Beghou is a very team-oriented. We have tons of smart, efficient, witty and fun colleagues. I always feel supported by my teammates. We work efficiently while going above and beyond for our clients. One of my favorite projects required me to work closely with colleagues from offices across the country – from New York to Chicago to San Francisco – and communicate mostly through instant messenger. I love using GIFs to express myself on our team chats and had one ready for almost any situation. We built a strong trust and camaraderie that allowed us to unite and deliver a top-quality finished product.”
